Face Fit Testing

Qualitative Face Fit Testing
Qualitative face fit testing is a simple pass or fail test suitable for disposable and reusable half masks. The test uses a test agent that the wearer can taste to determine whether an adequate seal has been achieved.
Quantitative Face Fit Testing
Quantitative face fit testing provides a numerical measurement of how well a tight-fitting respirator seals to the wearer’s face. This method can be used for half masks and full-face masks and does not rely on the wearer’s sense of taste.
RPE Training & Compliance
We provide practical RPE training and guidance to help employers and employees understand the correct selection, use and maintenance of respiratory protective equipment. Training can be tailored to your workplace requirements and the RPE being used.
Training can cover the correct selection, fitting, use, inspection, cleaning, maintenance and storage of respiratory protective equipment. Sessions can be tailored to the RPE used within your workplace, helping employees understand how to use their equipment correctly and supporting employers with their respiratory protection responsibilities.
RPE training can also be combined with face fit testing where required, providing a practical solution for businesses arranging respiratory protection services for their workforce.

Offshore Mobilisation Support
We understand that offshore mobilisation can often be arranged at short notice. Face fit testing can be provided for personnel requiring a valid face fit test prior to mobilising offshore, helping ensure respiratory protection requirements are met before travelling to site.

We provide both qualitative and quantitative face fit testing for suitable tight-fitting respirators, including disposable respirators, reusable half masks and full-face masks. On-site appointments are available across Aberdeen, Dundee, Inverness, Edinburgh, Glasgow and surrounding areas.

RPE Selection & Mask Advice
Choosing suitable respiratory protective equipment is essential to ensure the wearer receives the required level of protection. H&SCS can provide practical guidance on RPE selection, taking into account the task, respiratory hazard, type of respirator required and the individual wearer.
Where face fit testing is required, we can also help identify a suitable make, model and size of tight-fitting respirator before testing. A range of sizing sets can be available for testing, helping wearers find a suitable respirator where they have not already been issued with one.
