What to Bring for Your Face Fit Test

To help your face fit test run smoothly, please arrive clean-shaven in the area where the respirator seals to the face. H&SCS can provide a range of respirator models and sizes for testing, or you can be tested with your own respirator where required.

Mask Selection Available

Sizing sets of respirators are available to help identify a suitable make, model and size for testing. You can also be tested with your own respirator where required.

Clean Shaven

Wearers must be clean-shaven in the area where the tight-fitting respirator seals to the face at the time of testing.

Filters & Equipment

H&SCS will provide the test equipment required. If you are being tested in your own respirator, please bring the mask and any relevant filters or accessories.

Face fit testing can be arranged at your workplace, office, hotel or another suitable location prior to offshore mobilisation. H&SCS provides a flexible mobile service across Scotland, helping personnel complete their testing before travelling to an offshore installation or joining a vessel.

Appointments can be arranged for individuals or groups, and where mobilisation dates change at short notice, we will aim to accommodate testing subject to availability. This can help minimise delays where personnel require a valid face fit test before travelling offshore.

Our offshore face fit testing service is available for personnel using disposable respirators, reusable half masks and full-face masks. Qualitative and quantitative testing can be provided depending on the type of RPE being worn, with a face fit test record provided following successful completion.

Testing can also be arranged for multiple personnel where a team requires face fit testing before the same offshore mobilisation.
